From Lalique to Paraćin: Glass Designer Pauline Kuntz Visits Creative Glass Serbia

Glass designer Pauline Kuntz from the renowned French glassworks Lalique visited Paraćin to explore the work of the Creative Glass Serbia initiative and learn about local glassmaking traditions. During her visit, Pauline researched traditional glass processing techniques and wax craftsmanship, such as the pre-WWII guilloché method used at the Serbian Glass Factory, and met with local guardians of heritag including master engraver Lane, the Ristić Candle & Wax Workshop along with successor Slađana Ristić, Vesna Mihajlović, and others. Beyond knowledge exchange and immersing herself in the local spirit, her visit provided invaluable advice for developing an in situ interpretation program for Paraćin’s glass tradition, rooted in the concept of “living heritage” and experiential tourism.
